  • Overview

    Neenah, Inc. (formerly Neenah Paper) has immediate openings for a Maintenance Mechanic/Pipefitter at our Appleton facility.
    This role is part of a maintenance team that supports the paper machines, saturator complex, and general mill needs. Maintenance mechanics report to the Maintenance Supervisor.  This is a dayshift position (7am to 3pm) with call ins as necessary and weekend overtime as the machine schedule allows. The ideal candidate has the attitude, initiative, and excellent skills to support Neenah’s collaborative, high-achievement culture.
    Pay is $27.87/hour (effective 6/1/2018) upon successful completion of a 45 working day probationary period. Neenah offers an attractive benefit package to all full-time employees which includes incentive pay, 401(k), pension, medical, dental, vision and group life.


    The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of solid, direct industrial pipefitting and mechanical experience. Preference given to candidates who have completed an apprenticeship and/or applicable vocational training including job related experience as a journeyman pipefitter primary / millwright secondary. Must possess good communication, judgment and troubleshooting skills. Must be a self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision.
    Examples of Job Duties:
    - Maintenance and installation of mill machinery, piping systems and related equipment.
    - Repairing malfunctions of mill machinery, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing and related equipment as required.
    - Install, maintain and troubleshoots low and high pressure steam and condensate systems.
    - Carpentry, form building, cabinetry, structural steel, concrete and machinery alignment.
    - Maintains power hydro generating equipment as required.
    - Assists other crafts when working together on a job.
    - Performs general housekeeping duties and other duties as assigned by supervision.


    On-The-Job Requirements:
    - Be able to lift 50-100 lbs. regularly, e.g., chain blocks, pumps, motors, structural steel, etc.
    - Do considerable amount of bending, stooping, reaching, turning and twisting.
    - Climb and work in high places, e.g., from 8-50' elevated lifts, ladders, man lifts, dams, etc.
    - Work safely around moving machinery.
    - Work in confined spaces, e.g., inside dryers, boilers, chests etc.
    - Work with hazardous materials, e.g., corrosive acids, resins, gases, etc.
    - Work in extremely hot areas.
    - Wear protective equipment and clothing when required.
    - Ability to inspect work site for obstructions and hazards prior to work commencement.
    - Ability to apply shop mathematics to solve problems, select proper tools, read prints, and able to assist with planning / engineering to make decisions in the best interest of our assets
    - Observe production machine schedules, detect malfunctions, help determine which work to be done at the right time
    - Weld pipe, thread, bend, mount, assemble, install and test systems
    - Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install and maintain piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water fixtures and equipment for steam, not water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling and production and processing systems.
    - Work well without immediate supervision and self-directed
    - Perform minor cleaning maintenance activities of tools and equipment.
    - Have a telephone or cell phone and be able to report to work from home within 1 hour.
    - Expected to respond to call-ins, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
    - Must have successfully completed the State of Wisconsin Indentured Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship Program. (Pipefitter primaryMillwright Secondary)
    - Must pass entrance exam
    - Must be physically able to perform job responsibilities. Company reserves the right to review and test each applicant’s physical ability to perform the job
    - Must have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
    - Must be able to pass pulmonary respirator test.
    - Must be able to work in confined spaces
